Age Appropriate Bible Suggestions
Hi Friends
Several of you have asked me which Bibles I prefer for different age groups. Here are the ones I like. I'm sure there are others.
Baby Bible: Baby's First Bible by Colin MacLean
(This is a sturdy board book that will hold up to little people.)
Preschool: The Beginners Bible by Zonderkidz
(Good, preschool friendly illustrations and word choices.)
Kindergarten: The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sandy Lloyd-Jones
(Beautiful illustrations and ways to tie all parts of scripture to Jesus)
First and Second Grade:Kids Devotional Bible NIrV by Joanne E. DeJonge
(Good wording for early elementary. Nice devotionals for kids.)
Third, Fourth, Fifth Grade: The Kids Devotional Bible by Zondervan
(This is our Third Grade Bible. A great study Bible for this age.
Some time around middle school, I feel like kids should have one study bible with good footnotes and another compact, sturdy Bible for youth group trips, Sunday School etc.
I'd love to hear some of your choices!
Best,
Monique

Fruit Wrap Up!
Hey Families!
So, we're about to wrap up a fruit-filled summer of learning about the fruits of the spirit! Both in Summertime Fun and Sunday School we've talked about most of the Fruits of the Spirit including love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control!
How has learning about these "fruits" impacted your kids? Are they thinking about love, and kindness a little more? What about self control? What have you been doing at home to work on these attributes of Christian behavior? We'd love to hear from you!

Self Control!
Self control, the last Fruit of the Spirit, was this past Sunday's lesson! Preschoolers were given the daunting task of waiting until AFTER they ate lunch to open a paper bag filled with a few starbursts. It was great to watch them all walk out of church and talk about their bag! How did your preschooler do? Did anyone take the challenge to wait until AFTER DINNER??? (We DID NOT make it to dinner at our house... Though, I didn't have to do quite as much begging to get Teddy to finish his lunch!)
Elementary Kids watched this great video called "The Marshmallow Test" in Together Time and did different activities about self control in their rotations. K-1st watched a clip about Alex the Lion controlling his hunger from Madagascar, 2nd-3rd made banana s'mores and 4th,5th,6th played a relay game by rolling lemons with plastic spoons. It was a great morning!
Here is the link to the Together Time video if you'd like to watch it! You'll be glad to know that most of the kids thought they could manage this challenge!! What do you think?
